Unplanned steam cracker shutdownUNIPETROL, a.s. informs that UNIPETROL RPA, s.r.o., 100% owned subsidiary of UNIPETROL, a.s., decided to shut down operation of its petrochemical steam cracker (SC) unit at Chempark Záluží located in Litvínov starting from Tuesday 16 July 2013.
The unplanned shutdown is driven by technical difficulties with a steam pipe, which showed crack and associated steam leakage. Pipe repair cannot be carried out during operation. As the consequence of the SC shutdown, the Polypropylene (PP) unit will be also taken out of operation.
Due to refinery products’ balance the SC shut down may further trigger some refinery units shut down as well.
UNIPETROL RPA, s.r.o. estimates that the steam cracker (SC) unit operation will be restarted in approximately 13 days following the shutdown.
Total negative impact on Unipetrol Group full-year 2013 EBIT is estimated at approximately CZK 50 m. This is based on preliminary estimates only and is subject to further review.
