Closure of the outdated T200 heat and power plant scheduled for next year

UNIPETROL, a.s. announces that outdated T200 heat and power plant (T200) located in Litvinov site will be closed down by the end of 2011 pursuant the IPPC (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control) integrated permit. The T200 is an obsolete source of steam and energy, which no longer complies with legal and economic requirements.

The T200 will be closed in several phases, the operation as a whole will start to be shutting down in April 2011 and the completion of final stage is expected by the end of the year 2011. The preparatory stage for the project starts already in September 2010.

The project requires also careful planning and restructuring of the human resources, which should gradually result in the selective reduction of over 100 employees in the Energy Services Unit.

Net effect of annualized savings of operational costs and provisions related to closure of T200 should be roughly close to break even in the period 2010-2011. This is based on preliminary estimates, which are subject to further analysis depending on the progress in project stages.
