The supervisory board of UNIPETROL, a.s. during its meeting held on 8 November 2007 appointed a new supervisory board member, Mr. Waldemar Maj, for the period until the next company General Meeting.

As the Vice President for Finance at PKN Orlen, Waldemar Maj (51), oversees the company's accounting and auditing activities, including financial management, cost management, supply and customer relations and investor relations. Mr. Maj has held the position of Vice President for Finance on the Board of Directors of UNIPETROL's parent company, PKN ORLEN, since September 2007. Before joining PKN Orlen Mr. Maj was Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at BGŽ S.A. bank from 2005. From 2003 to 2004 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of DZ Bank Polska S.A. in Warsaw, and from 2000 to 2002 he worked as a Senior Associate at McKinsey & Company, also in Warsaw.

Waldemar Maj studied at the Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics at the Warsaw University of Technology. In 1989 he received a Doctorate in physics from the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He also qualified as a Master in Business Administration (MBA) in finance at the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration in Boston, USA, in 1996.
