ORLEN Unipetrol is among the TOP large socially responsible companies

28-11-2023

The refining and petrochemical group ORLEN Unipetrol has been awarded as the TOP Socially Responsible Company in the category of big firms. The award is presented by the Byznys pro společnost platform, which focuses on the general approach of companies and the development of their sustainable and responsible business. The awards represent a unique independent evaluation of small, mid-sized and large companies active in Czechia based on their strategies and sustainable business and CSR practices.

“We are happy to be recognised as a TOP socially responsible company in the category of Strategy. We are proud to set a good example for other companies in sustainable business and its development. Corporate social responsibility is one of our business priorities, so we are intensively involved in developing projects focused on decarbonisation, digitalisation, and environmental protection. We have improved by leaps and bounds since 2019, when we participated in this competition for the first time: we improved the score by 31 points – from 60.8 to 91.9. This achievement is backed by the great efforts of our employees, and I want to use this opportunity to thank them all for their work and share in this success”, said Katarzyna Woś, Vice-Chair of the board of directors of the ORLEN Unipetrol Group.

A panel of experts assesses the rate of individual companies’ involvement in environmental protection, their reactions to the needs of local and broader communities, and the care they devote to their employees. The degree to which they develop relationships with suppliers in the context of sustainable business and the overall CSR and sustainability strategy also plays an important role. The resulting evaluation provides scores in points and percentages that form a unique rating of companies in Czechia. The ORLEN Unipetrol Group has significantly improved its scores compared to the previous year, improving the results by 6% year on year. Thus, ORLEN Unipetrol beat the 90% landmark and ranked among the TOP ten companies in its category.

The awarded companies with an exceptional approach to CSR and sustainability were selected by 50 independent experts from the academia, media, non-profit organisations, and commercial sector, including significant personalities actively involved in developing business culture in the Czech Republic.

Besides the TOP Socially Responsible Company award, the ORLEN Unipetrol Group has also been recognised as the TOP Employer in Czechia, and its network of ORLEN Benzina filling stations defended the prize as the Most Trustworthy Brand of 2023.

The ORLEN Unipetrol Group is the largest refining and petrochemical company in the Czech Republic. It focuses on crude oil processing and the production, distribution and sale of vehicle fuels and petrochemical products – particularly plastics and fertilisers.
