Czechs love iced coffee – especially on the go. That is also confirmed by an Ipsos survey conducted for ORLEN. According to this survey, over 80% of respondents drink iced coffee during the summer months, and 60% of them drink it most frequently at filling stations. The survey has also revealed other interesting behaviours and preferences of Czechs who drink iced coffee.
The survey confirms that the product strategy at ORLEN filling stations is right. As part of its international gastronomic Stop Cafe concept, ORLEN has expanded its offerings to include new mixed drinks, available at selected stations throughout the Czech Republic. Customers can enjoy refreshing beverages such as Frappé Salty Caramel, Espresso Tonic with Hibiscus or Maracuja, as well as other original summer combinations.
“Our summer offering reflects both current trends and preferences of Czech customers. Iced coffee has become a standard part of their daily routine, and Frappé with salty caramel or Espresso Tonic with Hibiscus or Maracuja are among the most popular choices. We have prepared the new flavours to be refreshing and tasty, and to align with our commitment to sustainability. All coffee drinks are made of coffee with Fairtrade certification,” says Rostislav Moravec, Director of the Czech network of ORLEN filling stations.
Principal survey results
• Nearly two-thirds (64%) of consumers want to know about the origin of the coffee they drink.
• More than half (54%) of them prefer iced Frappé with salty caramel.
• 76% of respondents drink coffee regardless of its caloric value and prefer variants with milk and flavours.
• Men more frequently choose pure iced coffee without milk.
• One-third of customers (35%) enjoy iced coffee first in the afternoon.
• 72% drink it alone, without any food.
• Half of the young coffee drinkers aged 18–26 years enjoy iced coffee during the summer months, while the older generation remains loyal to more traditional hot coffee.
The offer of iced drinks is another step in the development of the Stop Cafe concept. It is currently available exclusively at 181 out of 441 ORLEN filling stations in the Czech Republic (see Stop Cafe - summer drinks | ORLEN) and combines local flavours with international trends. It is designed to provide customers with fast, high-quality and attractive flavoursome refreshments. The summer offer will refresh consumers with up to eight iced drinks – including the delicious Frappé Salty Caramel, the refreshing Espresso Tonic with Hibiscus or Maracuja, as well as Green Energy and Mango Boost juices. Lemonade lovers can choose from lemon, hibiscus, and mango variants. All coffee drinks are based on a special coffee blend with Fairtrade certification, which is made according to a unique formula in Belgium. It combines a distinctive taste with a responsible approach to coffee growers and the environment.
ORLEN plans to expand convenience sales further in the summer months and increase their share of total sales to up to 40% by 2035. Thus, iced coffee is an ideal combination of the current consumer preferences and the long-term vision of modern refreshments.

ORLEN – the international network of fuels, energy and refreshments
The ORLEN network of filling stations is a member of the ORLEN Unipetrol Group owned by the international ORLEN Group, which runs more than 3,500 fuel stations in seven Central European countries – Poland, Czechia, Germany, Lithuania, Hungary, Austria, and Slovakia. In Czechia, the ORLEN network comprises 441 stations with a 28.5% market share in the volume of fuels sold. The ORLEN network is a market leader in terms of both the number of sites and the volume of fuels sold. The popularity of the ORLEN brand with Czech consumers is reflected by the fact that the ORLEN network of filling stations has been awarded as the Most Trustworthy Brand in Czechia six times and as the Merchant of the Year three times.
At its stations, ORLEN offers premium Efecta fuel with a proven purifying effect and top-class Verva fuel that cares for the engine system and offers enhanced performance parameters. ORLEN sites also provide alternative fuels, including liquified petroleum gas (LPG), compressed natural gas (CNG), synthetic fuel HVO100, and battery- and hydrogen-driven e-mobility. ORLEN offers electricity at 294 charging points and operates hydrogen refuelling stations in Prague- Barrandov and Litvínov-Záluží.
The Stop Cafe concept is a significant part of the offering, being a crucial pillar in ORLEN brand’s convenience sales. In the Czech Republic, Stop Cafe is available at 357 out of 441 filling stations, i.e. at more than 80% of them. It is offered at nearly 2,500 sites within the entire international network. Stop Cafe offers a broad range of meals and food products – from popular hotdogs and coffee to more than 1,000 products, including packaged food, ready-to-serve meals, and specialities in traditional, vegetarian, and vegan versions. The offer keeps developing – the ORLEN competence centre in Prague is working on new product ranges focused on a healthy lifestyle, including breakfasts, bakery products, ready-to-serve meals, and private brand products that will react to the current trends and customer needs.
ORLEN also issues its own fuel cards, EASY and BUSINESS, and runs two mobile apps – the loyalty ORLEN app and a car care app, Mycí digi linka.
