People ran for a good cause once again this year at Benedikt in Most. Participants in the fourth annual ORLEN Unipetrol Foundation Run—Run for Your Dream—helped 18-year-old Agáta, who has been coping with the effects of cerebral palsy since childhood. Over 50,000 crowns were raised from entry fees this year to help pay for special orthoses that allow her to take a few steps without assistance. The ORLEN Unipetrol Foundation also contributed an additional 35,000 crowns.
This year’s event drew 360 runners of all ages. The starting line featured experienced athletes, recreational runners, corporate relay teams, and dozens of children. Beyond the athletic achievements, the race had a primarily charitable purpose. The funds raised will help Agáta finance special orthoses that make it easier for her to move and contribute to greater independence. However, these aids are not covered by health insurance.
“I’m happy when sports can bring people together while also providing concrete help to those who need it. We’re glad that, as the ORLEN Unipetrol Foundation, we can support this run over the long term. A big thank you goes to all the runners, volunteers, and visitors who care about the well-being of others and who decided to help simply by participating,” says Milan Brejchal, a member of the Board of Directors of the ORLEN Unipetrol Group responsible for production.
In addition to the general public, employees of the ORLEN Unipetrol Group also took part in the races. Some of them even excelled on the athletic side, and one of the company relay teams took third place. Above all, however, the event was an opportunity to combine sports with supporting a good cause. The program also included activities for children, sports stations, and a supporting program for the whole family. Every year, the “Run for Your Dream” charity run brings together sports, socializing, and helping those in need.
